GCL Yantai LNG receiving terminal’s EPC contractors Harbin Electric International (HEI) and China Tianchen Engineering (TCC) announced on October 31, 2020 to kick off the field construction of the project, nine days after the EPC agreement signing on October 22. Poly-GCL Energy’s operating arm, Poly-GCL Pan-Asia International Energy (Shandong), estimates the project will deliver the mechanical completion by April 2023 and enter the test running from January 2024.
The terminal is fully owned by Poly-GCL Pan-Asia International Energy (Shandong), a JV established by Poly-GCL Petroleum (Yantai) Holdings (45%), a subsidiary of Yantai Yindu Industry (40%) and Yantao Port (15%), and it is one of the scheduled terminals in the Bohai Bay Rim LNG Storage Plan of government to secure the seaborne natural gas supply in North China. The terminal was designed with 5 MTPA receiving capacity respectively for two phases, and the first phase included five 200,000 cbm LNG storage tanks, one 266,000 cbm LNG receiving berth and one 50,000 cbm loading berth, to provide a max capacity of 17 mcm/d regas and 1,500 mt/d truck loading as estimated. A 530-kilometer, 48-inch natural gas pipeline will accompany the Yantai LNG terminal, distributing 23 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Yantai to cities across Shandong Province and connecting to the national pipeline network.
