PipeChina Yuedong Terminal Puts Regas Pipeline in Service
On March 1, 2021, PipeChina announced to kick off its Yuedong Terminal’s matched regas output pipeline to connect the terminal to Guangdong provincial natural gas grid, and WEP II and WEP III systems.
Yuedong terminal was designed with 2 Mtpa receiving capacity, but its actual receiving capacity has surpassed 3 Mtpa in 2020, because of its aid assistance to cover the supply gas after Beihai terminal’s accidental offline in Nov 2020. However, without the regas output pipeline, the upper limit of LNG receiving and sales was stuck to its truck loading capacity and BOG utilization to surrounding areas.
With the new 115-km 5.3-bcma regas pipeline connecting to the main grids, Yuedong terminal is capable to supply regas to Guangdong province and to supply North China and Central China through WEP system in winter seasons. According to the terminal, the actual receiving capacity is expected to surpass 4.2 Mtpa with the help of the new regas facilities in 2021.
