SCI China Imported Wood Pulp Price Index (May 21 - May 27, 2021)
This week, the imported wood pulp spot market prices fluctuated widely downwards by RMB 100-700/mt. As of May 27, the SCI imported wood pulp price index closed at 1211.97, down 69.63 W-O-W. As the price trend down, spot sellers became less active in renewing their offers, and pulp market trading was in a stalemate. Factors affecting the market price were as follows. First, the pulp futures price fell sharply, and SP 2106, 2107 and 2108 contracts hit a limit down on May 27. Therefore, spot market players remained on the sidelines, and the spot market price fluctuated down. Second, paper prices continued to trend down, and the pulp consumption slowed down, weighing on the pulp price.
