CNPC’s Natural Gas Surpasses Oil in 2020
According to CNPC, as China’s largest oil and gas company, China National Petroleum Corporation CNPC reached 200 million toe domestic production in 2020, more importantly, for the first time, the natural gas production reached 130 bcm, equals over 100 million toe and surpassed oil as the largest in CNPC’s energy production mix.
Facing the challenges in 2020 such as the COVID-19 pandemic, oil meltdown, etc., CNPC stabilized production of its two main oil and gas fiends, Changqing and Tarim, at over 60 million toe and 30 million toe respectively. CNPC also kicked off China’s largest shale gas field in Southwest China with production over 30 bcm of natural gas per annum. Meanwhile, CNPC announced the commissioning of over 13 medium-scale natural gas fields with production over 1 bcm per annum.
