The sharp methanol price rises in Europe and the U.S. have gained market players’ eyeballs since July, but the Asian market didn’t follow suit, especially China’s methanol market which always kept stable. So what are the reasons behind this difference?

Both fundamentals and cost pushed up European methanol prices.
Up to August 16, the methanol prices in Europe were €420-450/mt, up over 42% from end-June. Gas price increases, production outages and limited supplement of imported resources together backed up local methanol market.
