Intensive Capacity Commissioning to Push up PE Supply
In August, the newly added units at PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Yulin Chemical and Dushanzi Petrochemical Tarim Oilfield Company went into production. In September, the units at Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical and Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company were planned to be put into use. The intensive capacity commissioning increased the PE supply, though the operating rate of some units dropped because of the maintenance.
1. Newly Added Units Came on Stream in 2021

According to data, the output of PE was about 1,909.4kt in August, down 8.8kt from last month. The capacity increased, but the overall output was reduced. The overall operating rate went down.
LDPE: Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical conducted maintenance. The new LDPE and old LDPE line 2 and 3 at Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical took overhauls. The overall operating rate in North China was around 70%. The LDPE units at Yulin Shenhua Energy and Zhongtian Hechuang Energy were shut down for maintenance. The overall operating rate in Northwest China was around 75%.
LLDPE: Two production lines of the FDPE unit at Fujian Refining & Petrochemical both experienced shutdowns.
