Jan-Mar Isoprene Export Increased
According to the data from GACC, China’s isoprene export volume from January to March increased significantly compared with that in the same period last year, with a total volume of 3,809mt, a Y-O-Y increase of 252.68%.
In 2022, new isoprene units have been put into production, and the downstream demand growth was slower than the output growth. Therefore, the increased in export volume is quite reasonable.
It can be seen that the export volume in March declined from that in February, an M-O-M decline of 37.45%. In February, China’s isoprene exports to South Korea and Singapore increased significantly due to local force majeure. Seen from the export price, the average export prices of isoprene from January to March all showed a Y-O-Y increase, owing to higher international isoprene price compared with the same period of last year.
In terms of trade partners, China mainly export isoprene to South Korea, Singapore, India and etc. From January to March, China’s isoprene export volume to South Korea and Singapore totaled 1,024.15mt and 780.22mt, accounting for 26.88% and 20.48% respectively. In addition, exports to Italy and Spain increased significantly Y-O-Y, and U.S., Japan, India and South Korea have become new export destinations, indicating the diversification of export markets.
