2023 China PP Unit Maintenance Plans
Preamble: There were more unexpected plans for maintenance in 2022 because of poor profit, which drove up the PP output loss. According to SCI’s research, it is predicted that unit maintenance will be concentrated at Sinopec, PetroChina and private enterprises. In terms of coal chemical enterprises, Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group and Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry have maintenance plans in 2023, but others are uncertain. Besides, the maintenance peak in 2023 is projected to appear from April to August.

Affected by relevant factors, there may be deviations between the planned maintenance and the actual maintenance situation. The maintenance plans above are current at time of publishing and are subject to change.
According to the research, SCI learns that in 2023, PP unit maintenance will be concentrated in Q2 and Q3, especially from April to August. In terms of region, the maintenance will mainly affect East China and South China, especially East China. Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical, Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical and Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical began to undergo maintenance successively in March. For producers that will take an overhaul, most of them produce PP copolymer, and some of them produce TPP (transparent PP) and fiber materials. Participants are recommended to focus on the supply of diversified PP grades according to maintenance time.
