SCI China Imported Wood Pulp Price Index (Oct 10 - Oct 16, 2025)
The SCI wood pulp price index decreased this week. SCI data shows that as of October 16, the price index closed at 1,041, down 3 points from before the holiday and 10% YoY.
The imported wood pulp spot market prices showed divergent trends this week. The average price of HWP continued its upward trend, while the average prices of SWP, UKP, and CMP decreased WoW. Price fluctuations were mainly influenced by the following factors: First, the main pulp futures contract at SHFE showed a volatile trend at lows. Under basis quotations, the prices for imported SWP continued to soften in the spot market. Second, procurement inquiries from large-scale paper mills after the holiday, combined with sellers' expectations of cost pressure for future arrivals, pushed HWP prices slightly higher. Third, demand for UKP and CMP remained weak, leading to softer price trends. Fourth, downstream paper mills' strong intention on cost reduction and efficiency improvement still exerted pressure on pulp prices.
As of October 16, the weekly average price of imported SWP was RMB 5,515/mt, down 0.83% from before the holiday, and that of imported HWP was RMB 4,247/mt, up 0.19% from before the holiday. The weekly average price of imported UKP was RMB 4,933/mt, down 0.26% from before the holiday, and that of imported CMP was RMB 3,811/mt, down 0.37% from before the holiday.
