Two more independent refineries approved to refine imported crude oil
China National Development and Reform Commission announced to approve Rizhao Landbridge Port Petrochemical and Shandong Shengxing Chemical to refine imported crude oil, with the quotas of 1,800kt/a and 2,200kt/a respectively. As of July 20, a total of 26 Chinese independent refineries have been allowed to refine imported crude oil of 89,850kt/a. Therein, 20 Shandong independent refineries gained the quotas of 64,850kt/a.
At present, applications of another 6 independent refineries are being published with the total quota of 11,840kt/a. In addition, some other independent refineries are waiting for the check of their applications.
PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical running its crude distillation units normally
The crude oil distillation units of PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical has been started, and the units are running normally at present. According to SCI, the company will produce qualified products in August. The 13,000kt/a oil refining project of PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical is designed to produce 3,700kt of gasoline and 5,500kt of diesel each year. The market supply of gasoline and diesel in Southwest China will increase, which will support the development of local gasoline and diesel companies.
CNOOC Huizhou Refining & Chemical Project Phase II to complete
The construction of CNOOC Huizhou Refinery has reached 96.53%, and the 1,800kt/a catalytic reforming unit has been put into operation since July 1 this year. It is expected that all unit of the oil refining sector will produce qualified products in the middle of September, and the ethylene project will complete in November.
This project is the biggest petrochemical project that is being built in China. The project will add 10,000kt/a oil refining capacity and 1,000kt/a ethylene capacity to the existing 12,000kt/a oil refining project.
