In the future, the demand for MTBE from the oil blending market will gradually weaken, and most market participants hold bullish sentiment towards the propylene market. Therefore, Zibo Qixiang Tengda Chemical plans to build 200kt/a MMA and 450kt/a PDH projects.

Major units: 200kt/a MMA and its matched units, 450kt/a PDH units

Investment: MMA unit (3.8 billion RMB), PDH unit (3.1 billion RMB)

As the quality of oil products keeps upgrading and ethanol gasoline will be promoted nationwide in 2020, the demand for MTBE from the oil blending market will gradually weaken. Furthermore, the company plans to adopt the iso-butylene/TBA direct oxidization technology to build the 200kt/a MMA unit and its matched units, including 400kt/a TBA unit and 100kt/a PMMA unit.
