China Styrene Supply to be Excessive

2019-2022 Will See Sharp Capacity Increase in China’s Styrene Market

China’s styrene capacity will keep expanding greatly in next few years. According to SCI’S statistics, about 8,332kt/a of styrene capacity will be put into operation from 2019 to 2022. The styrene market in China will see oversupply around the year of 2020.

Capacity Increase in Main Downstream Industries Limited, and Styrene Oversupply Inevitable in China

According to SCI, only EPS and ABS industries will witness capacity expansion of 320kt/a and 200kt/a respectively from 2019 to 2022. The downstream capacity increase is far behind that in the styrene industry.
