
What Happened to the PP International Market ?
1. Inter Pipeline will build PP unit valuing 600 million U.S. dollars.
Inter Pipeline has begun to construct a new PP complex plant at Heartland Petrochemical Complex, Alberta, Canada. The capacity is 525kt/a, which is projected to put into use in 2021. The units are mainly PDH units, which can use cheap propane in Canada.
2. An explosion accident happened at Petronas’s new project park.
An explosion accident occurred in the new project park of Petronas, and it is caused by gas leak. The park includes 900kt/a PP unit, 400kt/a HDPE unit and 350kt/a metallocene unit. Thus, the commissioning time of PP line, which is originally planned to be put into production in April 2019, has been postponed.
3. Saudi Aramco plans to acquire 20% stock equity of refining and petrochemical business at Indian Reliance Industries.
According to SCI, Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest crude oil producer, is currently discussing with Reliance Industries to buy at least 20% stock equity of its refining and petrochemical business. The deal is valued at about $60 billion U.S. dollars.
4. JG Summit Petrochemical Corp in the Philippine plans to expand its PP capacity.
According to SCI, JG Summit Petrochemical in the Philippines plans to expand its existing PP capacity from 190kt/a to 300kt/a. The expansion plan is expected to be completed in 2021.
