Shandong Future LPG Import Channels Increased

During Shandong Hi-speed Group’s 2019 annual conference at the beginning of 2019, Shandong Hi-speed Group attached importance to port resource integration and vital project construction. Therein, port resource integration was to promote integration of ports in Dongying, Weifang and Binzhou, and vital project construction was to construct two 100kt-level liquid bulk-cargo terminals, two 50kt-level LPG terminals, etc.

Recently, Shandong Bohai Bay Port Group confirmed two major projects to promote in 2019. The first project was to start building two 100kt-level liquid bulk-cargo terminals at the north of the first jetty, Dongying Port. The second project was to build LPG terminal and storage at Dongying Port with China Gas Holdings as a joint venture.

China Gas Holdings is a major LPG importer in China, and it is the top 3 LPG importer in China. However, most of its imported LPG flowed into Southern China such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, etc. Apart from Wanhua Chemical Group’s 1.2 million m³ underground storage which has started the phase II construction at the beginning of 2019, PetroChina was preparing the initial work of Dongjiakou import terminal in Qingdao, and a large-scale refinery in Binzhou was consideringa LPG import project in Yantai Longkou or Laizhou. Therefore, Shandong LPG import market may be full of various competitions in the future.
