China Alkylated Oil Capacity to Reach over 22 Million in 2019

According to SCI, some newly added alkylation units will be put into operation in China in 2019. SCI estimates that a total of 26 alkylation units will go into production in 2019, and the alkylated oil capacity is expected to exceed 22 million mt/a. Therein, newly added alkylationunits will be concentrated in Sinopec, PetroChina and independent refineries.The newly added alkylation units are mainly adopted the sulfuric acid-based technology in 2019. SCI estimates that the newly added alkylated oil capacity via this technology will reach 4,520kt/a in 2019. Pressured by the strict environmental protection inspection, Sinopec will promote the ionicliquid-based technology vigorously. It is predicted that there will be 4 ionic liquid-based units going into production in 2019, with a total capacity of 960kt/a. Only 1 solid acid-based unit will go into production in 2019, with atotal capacity of 100kt/a.
