H1, 2019 IIR Import Volume Analysis

After the final ruling of the anti-dumping investigation against the HIIR imports, China’s import volume of IIR changed notably. For a long time, China’s import dependence degree of imported IIR was at a high level. In H1, 2019, the import volume of regular IIR increased from last year, while that of HIIR dropped considerably.

In H1, 2019, the import volume of regular IIR was 36.6kt, up 16.56% from last year.

Regular IIR was still mainly imported from Russia, and the import volume from Russia was high in H1, 2019. It was directly related to the downstream plants’ habit and the price level of Russian goods. The import volume from Singapore also improved obviously. It was mainly because there was no tariff of on Singapore’s goods, and there was no anti-dumping duty on imported regular IIR.

In H1, 2019, the import volume of HIR was 77.6kt, down 26.23% from last year.

The import volume of HIIR originating in the U.S., the EU and Singapore dropped notably, due to the anti-dumping duty, while that from Canada and Saudi Arabia increased a lot.
