CNPC and Golden Concord Holdings Limited (GCL) signed the framework agreement to build a new 3 Mtpa LNG receiving terminal in Western Guangdong’s Maoming City, previously known as Yuexi Terminal project, on Jun 4 together with Maoming City Government and Maoming Port Group to invest the first LNG terminal in the middle of Guangdong and Guangxi to fill up the black area and support the local clean energy utilization.
The project is designed with 3 Mtpa receiving capacity for the Phase I construction, matched with a 266,000 cbm LNG unloading berth, two 200,000 cbm LNG storage tanks and regas and truck loading facilities to provide 800,000 Mtpa LNG truck loading and 16.8 mcm/d regas to the local natural gas market. The project also reserved land for another berth and extra six storage tanks for future expansion. It is expected the new terminal will be put online by 2023.
