PP Capacity to Expand in U.S., Kazakhstan and Iran
450kt/a PP Unit at Braskem in the U.S. Realized Commercial Production.
According to SCI, the 450kt/a PP unit at Braskem of U.S., which has been under construction since 2017, has recently achieved commercial production at present. The unit is located in La porte, Texas, U.S., and resources produced by it are mainly supplied to Americas, Europe and Asia.
The First 500kt/a PP Unit in Kazakhstan to Be Put into Operation in Q3, 2021.
Kazakhstan plans to put the first 500kt/a PP unit into operation in Q3, 2021, and the equity of this new unit is owned by Kazakhstan’s state-owned United Chemical Company and the consortium ALMEX. Besides, PP produced by this new unit will be mainly exported to Western Europe, Turkey and China. By then, China’s PP import market will usher in emerging forces.
Iran will Further Strengthen Its Domestic Petrochemical Facilities.
According to SCI, Iran will further strengthen its domestic petrochemical production capacity. The main enhancements related to the polyolefin field are the construction of three natural gas transportation lines, capacity expansion at Kaveh (methanol producer), construction of the Kimia Pars petrochemical plant in the Middle East, and the improvement in Lorestan catalysts production. At present, Kaveh has approximately 2.3 million mt/a methanol, and it plans to enhance capacity greatly in 2021.
