Refining-Chemical Integration will Open a New PP Market

The PP units at Hengli Petrochemical was put into production in April 2019. China’s private enterprises are active in building refining and chemical complexes. The second phase of Hengli Petrochemical and the first phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical were scheduled to put into production at the end of 2019. Shenghong Petrochemical, the second phase of Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical and some other refining and chemical complexes are expected to start production in 2020. Meanwhile, some foreign enterprises, such as CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals, SABIC and Saudi Aramco (Arabian American Oil Company), will cooperate with China’s enterprises in China’s refining and chemical fields.

Compared with traditional refining and refining process, refining-chemical integration integrates downstream industries and drives the petrochemical industry chain down. At the same time, the integrated refining and chemical plant can adapt to changing marketable product solutions, and its adaptability to the market has greatly increased, which also means that competition for basic petrochemical products will increase in the future.

With the advancement of these large-scale refining-chemical integration projects, the PP industry structure will be upgraded, and the PP industrial chain value will be improved.
