In May, the international crude oil prices were at relatively low levels, and the arbitrage profits in mixed aromatics imports stayed at highs. Therefore, in May, China’s import volume of mixed aromatics surged to 980.4kt, up 193.84% M-O-M and up 485.73% Y-O-Y. Meanwhile, China’s export volume of mixed aromatics was only 0.3kt, down 19.57% M-O-M and down 4.08% Y-O-Y.
In terms of trade mode, in May, China mainly imported mixed aromatics via general trade and inbound and outbound goods in bonded warehouses, and their proportions were 82.37% and 17.42% respectively.
