China BD Supply to Ramp Up in Dec
By the end of November, there are 35 butadiene producers in China, with the total capacity of 4,836kt/a. The investigated ones include the total capacity of 930kt/a, 405kt/a, 2,142t/a, 660kt/a, 150kt/a, 369kt/a and 180kt/a, respectively in 7 producers in Northeast China, 3 producers in North China, 15 producers in East China, 4 producers in South China, 1 producer in Southwest China, 3 producers in Northwest China and 2 producers in Central China.
Remarks: The butadiene capacity at North Huajin Chemical Industries is revised to 120kt/a; the butadiene capacity at PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical is revised to 150kt/a; the butadiene capacity at Sinopec & SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical is revised to 130kt/a.

In November, the operating rate of China’s butadiene industry edged up to around 75.6%. According to SCI, the monthly output of butadiene was around 304kt. Within this month, the butadiene units at Wintter Chemical, Shandong Huayu Rubber and Sinopec & SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical continued to be shut. The butadiene units at Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical and Nanjing Chengzhi Yongqing Energy Technology ran normally in November. Sinopec Zhongke (Guangdong) Refinery also ran its butadiene unit normally within this month. Other butadiene units saw slight changes in the operating rates. As seen from newly added units, there were qualified butadiene products available at Wanhua Chemical Group in late November, but the product index was being debugged. Thus, it was not included in the effective capacity. Overall, the butadiene supply continued to pick up in November.
