Jan & Feb 2021 China Propane Import Rose Greatly
Supported by China’s PDH capacity expansion, China’s propane import volume kept rising. In January and February, China’s propane import volume was 3,182kt, up 52.1% Y-O-Y.

In recent years, China’s propylene production showed a diversified development trend, and producers preferred using light feedstock. Accordingly, China’s PDH capacity expanded rapidly in recent years. From end-2020 to Q1, 2021, the 660kt/a PDH unit at Fujian Meide Petrochemical and the 660kt/a PDH unit at Oriental Energy (Ningbo) New Material were put into operation. Besides, the 520kt/a propane cracker at Wanhua Chemical Group was put into use.
