Difference Between NBR and NBR Latex
[Introduction] In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic placed NBR latex products into the public light, and the NBR latex market ushered in unprecedented changes. However, some new contacts may confuse NBR latex with the well-known special rubber NBR.
NBR and NBR latex are both obtained by emulsion polymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile, with properties such as oil resistance, wear resistance and strong adhesion. It can be divided into 3 types according to the content of acrylonitrile. With the increase in acrylonitrile content, the properties of oil resistance and adhesion are improved, but the advantages of NBR and NBR latex with high acrylonitrile content in cold resistance and water resistance are reduced. However, there are obvious differences in the form and application between NBR and NBR latex.
Different Forms
NBR is in solid form, which is basically packed in paper bags. The weight of products packed by different producers is different, which is mainly packed in 25kg or 35kg. NBR latex is in milky white liquid form. For liquid products, it is basically packaged in PE plastic barrels with capacities of 200kg/1,000kg.
Different Application Fields
NBR is mainly used in the production of oil-resistant rubber products, such as automotive parts, sealing products, wires and cables. NBR latex is mainly used in the field of gloves. Strictly speaking, carboxylated NBR latex is used for gloves, mainly for disposable gloves and safety work gloves in medical inspection, industrial and household fields. At present, there is no application of NBR in the field of gloves.
