Zhejiang Provincial Grid Delivery Rises by 33% Y-O-Y
By January 7, 2021, the daily natural gas delivery volume of Zhejiang Energy Group (ZJE) to the Zhejiang provincial grid reached 48.7 mcm/d, up 33% Y-O-Y, and the residential winter supply reached 37.3 mcm/d, both creating historical highs. The company also successfully secured the natural gas supply of 5.5 KMW gas power plants at full load during the winter heating season, and the annual power utility gas consumption significantly increased by 73.7% Y-O-Y.
As one of China’s top 10 natural gas consuming provinces, Zhejiang Province is at the far end of the natural gas pipeline system away from the main domestic producing areas in the west and the piped gas import sources in the west or north. Thus, as the fourth largest provincial GDP in China, Zhejiang only ranked tenth in the natural gas consuming ranking. Zhejiang’s natural gas supply mainly came from the national grid from the West-to-East Pipeline, Sichuan-to-East Pipeline and offshore gas fields in the East China Sea basin.
