January China ESBR Output to Increase
In December 2021, China’s ESBR producers amounted to 11, with a total capacity of 1,470kt/a. The samples cover all ESBR producers in China. Therein, two producers are located in North China, 4 in East China, 2 in South China, 2 in Northeast China, and 1 in Northwest China.
December China’s ESBR monthly output rose M-O-M.

In December, China’s ESBR monthly output was 87.2kt or so, up 1.4% M-O-M and down 14.93% Y-O-Y. Huizhou LCY Elastomers and Zhejiang Vitile Rubber resumed production. The output at PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical and Hangzhou Yibang Rubber inched up. PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical saw a decrease in output. The units at Fujian Fuxiang Chemical and Tianjin Lugang Petroleum Rubber remained shut.
China’s ESBR market prices were range-bound in December. The tire inventory was high, and the worker shortage caused a decrease in the overall tire unit operating rate. Soft demand curbed the rebound in ESBR prices. In December, the theoretical profits from producing ESBR averaged RMB 524/mt, up RMB 171/mt M-O-M as the decrease in ESBR prices was lower than that in feedstock prices. The decrease in costs motivated ESBR production.
China’s ESBR monthly output is predicted to show an M-O-M increase in January.

China’s ESBR monthly output is estimated at 93.9kt or so in January, up 7.68% M-O-M and down 14.64% Y-O-Y. Shen Hua Chemical Industrial, Zhejiang Vitile Rubber, Hangzhou Yibang Rubber, and Huizhou LCY Elastomers are predicted to be under normal production in January, and PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical is likely to increase output. The units at Fujian Fuxiang Chemical and Tianjin Lugang Petroleum Rubber will remain shut in January.
