Topics to be discussed
Oil: China Crude and Products Supply-Demand Forecast Towards 2030
LPG: Light Feedstock Development Propels China LPG Demand
Gas: China Natural Gas: Summer Demand 2023 & Outlook 2030
Oil: Energy transition has emerged as a prominent global trend, with China playing a pivotal role by making concerted efforts to optimize its primary energy consumption structure. Additionally, China became a net importer for crude oil in 1993, subsequently witnessing a significant rise in its share of global crude oil trading. This trend became particularly evident in 2020, as China's crude imports accounted for 20% of the global total amid notable decline in crude oil prices. Consequently, China strongly influences the global balance of crude oil supply and demand. Furthermore, China's economy receives promising indicators in 2023, propelling a greater market demand for oil products during its ongoing economic recovery. As a result, questions arise regarding the possibility of a more vigorous rebound in China's oil product demand in 2023, as well as the timing of China's oil demand reaching its peak amidst the ongoing energy transition and expanding oil refining capacity.
LPG: Amidst the context of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the carbon peak and carbon neutrality, an increasing number of refineries use lighter feedstock. Specifically, China saw significant expansion in its PDH capacity throughout 2022 and H1 of 2023. However, the actual supply growth fell short of expectations as some enterprises delayed the startup of their units amidst uncertainties. Will China's PDH capacity continue to grow rapidly before 2025? How will China's olefin feedstock structure evolve? What level of LPG consumption could be expected from crackers? How will China's LPG demand and import patterns change with the development of lighter feedstock?
Gas: China's natural gas market effectively recovered from the uncertain sentiment of 2022 and saw a significant economic boost in the summer of 2023. However, the pace of economic recovery slowed down in late Q2, raising concerns about the new stimulus policies and their effectiveness. Could China expect another rebound in Q3? Where will natural gas pricing reform go? When will China's gas consumption reach new highs? Looking ahead to 2030, how will China's supply troika achieve diversified development? What will be the next turning point for China's gas sector and when? What policies and initiatives will support carbon peak and carbon neutrality in China?
Join us on September 1, 2023 and make sense of China energy market trends.
