New Gas Source Station Commissioning in Ningbo

The new gas source station in Ningbo, the North Daxie LNG Station, finished the first LNG cargo unloading recently, meant that the station entered the commissioning stage.
The station is located in Daxie Island, where there is no natural gas pipeline grid covered, and the station is considered as the main source of the gas supply in this district before the pipeline links between Daxie and Beilun, in where the CNOOC Ningbo Terminal located. The station was designed with four 1,500,000 cbm tanks for the first stage and two 1,500,000 cbm tanks for the second stage. When the pipeline completes the connection, the station will be the peak-shaving and emergency reserve station of Daxie Island to increase the local storage capacity.
China’s natural gas pipeline infrastructure is far behind schedule, and in the regions where the pipeline grid is not able to cover, the off-grid supply pattern is considered as the most important supplementary measure to the development of the natural gas industry. The off-grid pattern, which was also called as the P2P LNG supply pattern, has developed rapidly since 2017 due to its favorable features, such as the low construction cost, flexible operation and gas supply, etc. The gas source station Is also considered as the standard application measure of the off-grid supply pattern. The station can be the source node of the city gas grid using LNG as feed gas, and when the city gas grid connects to the pipeline system, the station can also run as the peak-shaving and emergency reserve station. Therefore, the form of the gas source station will be highly accepted by natural gas and LNG participants, and its investment and development are promising.
