
CNOOC Approved FID on Tianjin Terminal 2nd Phase

According to source, CNOOC Gas & Power approved the final investment decision on May 28 to expand its Tianjin Terminal to 7.25 Mtpa as the second phase. The new phase included six 220,000 cbm storage tanks, 12 regasification units and 12 high-pressure pumps, and the whole expansion will be completed by 2022 as scheduled.
To remind, the terminal has a 160,000 cbm storage tank in the inner tank construction phase as the last project of its first phase to fulfill the 3.21 Mtpa capacity, and this tank is estimated to be put into operation within 2018. The terminal also plans to build an onshore terminal regasification unit to replace the FSRU carrier GDF Suez Cape Ann, and the terminal will become the receiving terminal with two full-functioning 266,000 cbm carrier berths.
According to CGAC, CNOOC’s Tianjin Terminal received 2,178,685 tons of LNG in 2017, doubled from 2016. In last winter heating season, the terminal received and unloaded nine vessels in one month, the tank truck loading volume once exceeded 400 trucks per day, and the daily gas output reached 20 million cbm per day.
