Butadiene Supply to Be Sufficient in Oct

Up to now, there are 28 butadiene producers in China, with a total capacity of 3,889kt/a. The investigated ones include the total capacity of 650kt/a, 335kt/a, 1,715t/a, 530kt/a, 120kt/a, 369kt/a and 170kt/a, respectively in 5 producers of Northeast China, 2 producers of North China, 11 producers of East China, 3 producers of South China, 1 producer of Southwest China, 3 producers of Northwest China and 2 producers of Central China.

In September, the operating rate of China’s butadiene industry ramped up to 74% roughly. According to SCI, the monthly output went lower to around 240kt in September, based on the following aspects. In September, Shandong Weite Chemical, PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical and Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical started up and ran normally. The butadiene unit at Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry started up in late September, having little impact on the whole operating rate. The butadiene unit at Puyang BuleStar New Material was shut down in late September, influencing the whole operating rate slightly as well. Overall, the whole output still picked up somewhat in September.
