Transparent PP Materials Spot Supply Analysis

Transparent PP materials have high transparency, superior material properties and a wide range of applications, so the demand for them is increasing year by year. They also attract more attention of market participants. This article will analyze the supply of China’s transparent PP materials.

China’s transparent PP materials output was about 600kt in 2017, and Sinopec was the largest supplier. The output of transparent PP materials at Sinopec was around 380kt, occupying above 50% of the total domestic output. The representative grades were K4818 and K4912 at Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company, M800E and GM1600E at Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, K4912 at Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical, HT9025NX at Sinopec Maoming Company, etc. Besides, the output of transparent PP materials at Shanghai Jinshan Petrochemical, Formosa Plastics (Ningbo) and North Huajin Chemical Industries Group ranked top 3 among private enterprises. Prices of M800E and M1600E at Shanghai Jinshan Petrochemical, 5090T/5250/5200XT/5450XT at Formosa Plastics (Ningbo) and K4912 at Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical were the highest, and prices of RP344P/RK/SK at North Huajin Chemical Industries Group, M26ET at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical and HT9025NX at Sinopec Maoming Company were inferior to that. The price spread between high-end transparent PP and medium-to-low end one reached RMB 500-1,000/mt.
