SOCAR Exports Nearly 4.4kt of PP to Turkey

SOCAR Polymer exported nearly 4.4kt of PP to Turkey, and it is predicted that additional 6kt of PP will be exported by the end of 2018.

At the first stage, SOCAR Polymer will produce 120kt of PE and 184kt of PP. The export volume is estimated to reach 150kt in 2018. By 2021, the total capacity will reach 570kt/a. The company will produce 19 types of PP products and 12 types of HDPE products. The products will be used in the food and medical industries, as well as in agriculture and car manufacturing. The supplier of feedstock for the plant is Azerkimya PU. After switching to full capacity, the plant will purchase 23mt of propylene per hour from the Azerikimya. The total investment costs of the project are estimated at $816 million.

The production of feedstock at the SOCAR Polymer plants will promote the creation of hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises and to the development of production of various types of import-substituting products. According to calculations, the activity of the plants producing PP and HDPE SOCAR Polymer will yield an income of $8 billion. About 30% of the products will be sold on the domestic market, and the rest will be exported to Turkey, Europe and the CIS countries.
