China Newly Added Butadiene Capacity Surged
In 2019, a total of 170kt/a butadiene capacity went into production, including new butadiene units at Jiutai Energy and Nanjing Chengzhi. These two new units belong to butene ODH units. In the coming days, most of butadiene units are the matched downstream units of big ethylene projects, and the production technology is C4 extraction technology.
In the next five years, there will be 2,000kt/a butadiene capacity going into production, including Zhejiang Petrochemical, Hengli Petrochemical and so on. If these units go into production as scheduled, the butadiene supply, import and export patterns will be changed greatly.
