Shandong to Fully Promote Yulong Petrochemical Construction

On February 11, Shandong government held a video conference focused on the promotion of Yulong Petrochemical. During the conference, the officials of Shandong government pointed out that the promotion of Yulong Petrochemical project has entered a critical stage, and Shandong should do the follows:

First, strictly adhering to China’s petrochemical industry’s policies and fully eliminating the backward oil refining units; Second, strengthening project service guarantee and implementing supports on funds, lands, energy consumption, supporting facilities and policies; Third, constructing the project with high standards, actively introducing strategic partners, first-class technology and management talents and striving to build a high-end petrochemical industry base; Fourth, adhering to the rule of people's interests first, strengthening risk awareness, attaching great importance to safety production, environmental protection and financial risk prevention and ensuring that all works advance smoothly and orderly.

The head official of Shandong government pointed out that in 2020, Shandong will fully start the construction of Yulong Petrochemical project (Phase I) and resolutely implement the integration of oil refining capacity at Shandong independent refineries.

In order to gather all efforts to promote the construction of Yulong Petrochemical, Shandong government asked that all related departments should follow the requirements mentioned above, strengthen the sense of responsibility, cooperate closely and work together to overcome difficulties.

In January 2020, the officials of Shandong government mentioned in the government work report that in the last over two years, Shandong government totally closed over 1,500 chemical enterprises that failed to meet the requirements of related policies and reduced the number of chemical parks from 199 to 85. Moreover, Yulong Petrochemical was qualified to enter China’s national planning.
