Shenergy Yangshan Phase II in Service
According to Shenergy, Shanghai LNG Co., Ltd., the operator of Shenergy’ s Shanghai Yangshan LNG receiving terminal, announced the success of test running of the two new 200,000 cbm LNG storage tank of the second phase expansion and put facilities into commercial service on November 16, 2020 with the first cargo Shen Hai’s 65,000 metric tons from Malaysia’s Bintulu.
Yangshan LNG terminal, commissioning in 2009 and since then taking in charge of over 50% of Shanghai’s natural gas supply and even 65% for some peaks, was designed with three 160,000 cbm LNG storage tanks, a 100,000 cbm LNG berth and six sets of regas facilities (2 SCV and 4 IFV), and the terminal was located in an isolated island offshore Shanghai city and connected with a 36 kilometers under-sea pipeline. The regas facility of the Phase II expansion had been put into use in the 2019 winter heating season, and the two new tanks will finalize the current expansion phase and drive Shenergy into the next step, the third phase of Yangshan or Plan B, a brand new Yangshan II terminal.
