CNOOC Ningbo LNG Terminal 2nd Expansion Ready to Go
According to CNOOC Gas and Power’s statement, the second phase expansion project of CNOOC’s Ningbo LNG receiving terminal marked a milestone on November 30, 2020. After 11 months of concentrated efforts on single tank construction, the #4 tank, the first tank of the three 160,000-cbm tanks in the expansion plan, has been put into service and received a 63,000 mt cargo from Trinity Arrow delivered from Queensland Curtis. The rest two 160,000-cbm tanks also finished infra construction and installation and will come online sooner later.
The expansion project at CNOOC Ningbo terminal is the first case of an associated engineering project jointly combined by CNOOC Gas & Power’s innovation department, Offshore Oil Engineering and CNOOC Petrochemical Engineering. The project is designed to add another three 160,000-cbm LNG storage tanks to the terminal to push its receiving capacity from the current nameplate 3 Mtpa to 6 Mtpa. After successfully overcoming the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and multiple hit of typhoons, the three tanks finished infra building by Nov 15, 2020.
