Price Spread Between Field Latex and Cup Lump Hit a New Low
According to SCI’s statistics, the feedstock purchasing price at Hat Yai kept dipping. Therein, field latex prices declined greatly, and the decline in cup lump prices was lower. Accordingly, the price spread between field latex and cup lump gradually narrowed.
In recent months, the feedstock prices in Thailand kept dipping. As of July 22, the purchasing price of field latex at Hat Yai was THB 41/kg, down 39.3% from the annual high level. Meanwhile, the purchasing price of cup lump was THB 43/kg, down 8.9% from the annual high level. Accordingly, the price spread between field latex and cup lump gradually narrowed from THB 22/kg to THB -2/kg
Field latex prices went down due to the ample supply.
As seen from the chart above, the increment in field latex supply was limited at the beginning of rubber tapping, so the feedstock price was relatively high. After H2 May, with the rising field latex supply, field latex prices declined rapidly from high levels.
