Apr 2023 China PE Unit Maintenance

According to SCI, China’s PE output loss caused by unit maintenance was 272.8kt in April, down 16.5kt M-O-M.
May 2023 China PE Unit Maintenance

According to SCI, China’s PE output loss caused by unit maintenance is estimated at 316.4kt in May, up 43.6kt. Therein, LLDPE will take 180.8kt, LDPE will take up 4.1kt and HDPE will take up 131.5kt.

In May, the supply of Chinese-made PE is estimated to decline as more units will take overhauls. Meanwhile, the import volume is likely to change limitedly. Therefore, SCI reckons that China’s overall PE supply will likely trend down. As for the demand, the demand for agricultural film will weaken and operating rates of other downstream industries will not change much, which will give limited support to the market.
