The Demand for BPA Will Boom
The demand for BPA in PC industry may increase by 1,120kt/a from 2017 to 2019.
The demand for BPA in PC industry may increase by 680kt/a from 2020 to 2023.
Currently, the exact operating date of BPA newly-added units is not confirmed. The exact date is closely related to the PC operating date.
The PC raw material will be diversified in the future
In 2015, Mitsubishi Chemical developed a new kind of engineering plastic named DURABIO. The raw material took isosorbide as raw material rather than BPA.
Recently, a Spanish research team is trying to use limonene as the raw material to produce PC. Compared with BPA, limonene is an environmental friendly and sustainable replacement.
As the environmental protection policies are becoming increasingly strict, the environmental friendly materials in each industry will be more popular in the future.
