Tire Producers Expand the Capacity at Overseas Production Bases

Hwa Fong Rubber Industrial will found new tire plant in Thailand.

Hwa Fong Rubber Industrial invests 1.53 billion THB (46.22 million USD) to set a new tire plant in Thailand. The plant will mainly produce bicycle tires and motorbike tires. Currently, Hwa Fong Rubber Industrial has two plants in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand, with the capacity of 25,000 pieces of motorbike tires and 32,000 pieces of bicycle tires per day. Cooperating with Sumitomo Tire, Hwa Fong’s tire products are mainly sold to Japanese motorbike enterprises, such as Yamaha and Honda. In the first 9 months of 2017, the sales value at Hwa Fong Rubber Industrial is 3.93 billion TWD, down 5.23% from 4.15 billion TWD in the same period last year.

Toyo Tires will expand the passenger car tire capacity of the U.S. and the Malaysian plant.

On October 4, Toyo Tire & Rubber Company announced that it would expand the tire capacity at the U.S. plant and the Malaysian plant by 7.2 million pieces. Budgets for the capacity expansion at the two plants are 125 million USD and 187.5 million USD respectively. The 125 million USD invested for the U.S. plant in Georgia State is used to expand the capacity of passenger car tire by 2.40 million pieces, and the 187.5 million USD is used to expand the capacity by 4.80 million pieces. The U.S. plant in Georgia State is Toyo Tires largest production base worldwide. It has an annual capacity of 11.50 million pieces. The plant in Perak State, Malaysia has an annual capacity of 5 million pieces. Toyo Tire & Rubber Company wants to enlarge its advantages in the sales of light truck tires, SUV tires and CUV tires by the capacity expansion.

Giti Tire U.S. plant has been put into production.

On October 5, the U.S. plant of Giti Tire was finally put into production. The plant is invested with 0.56 billion USD (about 3.7 billion RMB), and it covers 1.7 million cubic feet. It includes the Richburg plant and a distribution center. Giti Tire U.S. Company once announced that the output of passenger car tire and light truck tire in 2018 could reach millions of pieces. Phase I of Giti tire U.S. plant is 5 million pieces. According to sources, the U.S. tire plant will cooperate with Volkswagen Group of America, and it will provided auto-matched tires for the company.
