Jun Shutdown at Huangdao Port to Limit China’s Crude Imports

Sources said that Huangdao Port in Shandong Province would be shut down for around 20 days in June due to a summit in early June. But how long Huangdao Port will be closed has not confirmed yet by now. The local government is assessing the impacts on local refineries. Huangdao Port is a part of Qingdao Port, and it is one of the biggest crude oil import ports in China.
According to communications with independent refineries in Shandong Province, some independent refineries will reduce their crude oil import volume in June and some will shut down their units for maintenance, although the high crude oil inventories at ports will sustain the refineries’ operating rates for some days.
