SCI China Imported Wood Pulp Price Index (Oct 31 - Nov 6, 2025)

The SCI wood pulp price index increased slightly this week. According to SCI, the SCI wood pulp price index closed at 1,049 on November 6, up 6 points WoW, but down 8% YoY.
Imported wood pulp spot market prices mostly increased within the week, with only CMP remaining flat. The market trading was still done on a need-to basis. Major factors affecting pulp prices were as follows. First, the pulp futures market turned more bullish this week, and the imported SWP spot price inched up, backed by expanding basis. Second, affected by market anecdotes of slower market pulp shipments from a Brazilian supplier and spot purchases from some paper mills, spot sellers raised offers for imported HWP slightly. In the meantime, the price rise for Chinese-made HWP was also smooth. Third, the market availability of imported UKP was not high, and backed by rising packaging paper prices, paper mills purchased more UKP, pushing up its prices. Last, the market supply and demand of imported CMP changed slightly, and the market price remained flat.
SCI data shows that as of November 6, the weekly average price of imported SWP was RMB 5,506/mt, up 0.05% WoW, and that of imported HWP was RMB 4,251/mt, up 0.28% WoW. The weekly average price of imported UKP was RMB 5,107/mt, up 1.07% WoW, and that of imported CMP was RMB 3,808/mt, flat WoW.
