2018 China's Edible and Industrial Ethanol Supply Forecast

There is a great number of ethanol capacity under construction or planning. Most of the capacity is corn-based ethanol, mainly locating in Northeast China (Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning) and Inner Mongolia. The reason why distillers build new plants in these four provinces is that the corn deep-processing subsidy policy and abundant corn resources. However, many planned units are still on the blueprints only, and the actual progress is possible to be slower than expected.
China's ethanol capacity will continue increasing in 2018. Judging from section 4.4.2 above, the commissioning dates of most newly built plants are still uncertain, and some newly built plants are applied to fuel ethanol industry. The development of synthetic ethanol is affected by the supply and price of the acetic acid. The newly built 95% ethanol plants, including the 200 kt/a corn-based ethanol unit at Jilin Boda Biochemical, 100 kt/a corn-based ethanol unit at Heilongjiang Weikete Biotech, 100 kt/a corn-based ethanol unit at Inner Mongolia Liniu Biochemical and 200 kt/a corn-based ethanol unit at Jilin Cathay Biotech, are expected to be put into operation in 2018. It is predicted that China's ethanol capacity will reach 13,426 kt/a in 2018.
