Fangchenggang Terminal to Operate in October

According to sources, CNOOC Gas and Power will put its newly built Fangchenggang LNG Terminal into operation soon in the upcoming October. Currently, the whole construction of the site has finished, and the test running and commissioning are in preparation.
The new terminal was designed for transferring, thus its receiving capacity was small with only two 30,000 cbm tanks at 0.6 Mtpa. The terminal, located at Chuitian District, the north side of Fangchenggang City’s Donggang Liquid Chemical Port. The whole investment aimed 1.86 billion CNY, and the project was divided into two phases, namely the first phase with 0.6 Mtpa capacity and 0.96 bn CNY investment, and the second phase with expanded capacity to 1 Mtpa and another 0.9 bn CNY investment. Besides, there were ten sets of tank truck loading devices included.
Quoting staff of the terminal, the future operation “may be not operable” in LNG imports, and the focus will be on domestic resource reallocating and transferring. But still, it is believed the terminal may share some import cargoes with CNOOC’s another terminal, Yangpu Terminal in Hainan Province, which had been vexed by the low utilization rate for a long period. Moreover, at the current stage, the terminal will focus on tank truck loading and LNG sales, covering Guangxi, Southeast Yunnan and South Guizhou.
