Highlight:

Due to the abundant supply of Chinese-made MTBE and the continuous improvement of the quality, there is no difference in the quality between Chinese-made MTBE and imported MTBE. Therefore, China’s MTBE import volume has kept dipping in recent two years. SCI estimates that China’s total import volume of MTBE in 2018 will be 130kt, down 36.46% Y-O-Y.
From January to September 2018, most MTBE resources were imported from customs in the coastal regions of Southeast China, as the MTBE producers in East China and South China were few and the MTBE prices were relatively high. Hereinto, 47.9kt of MTBE resources were imported via Huangpu Customs, taking up 58% of the total and ranking first. 21.9kt and 9.6kt of MTBE resources were imported via Shanghai Customs and Gongbei Customs, ranking second and third respectively.
