Sinopec Zhenhai to Expand 15,000kt/a Oil Refining & 1,200kt/a Ethylene Projects

According to sources, Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical plans to expand its oil refining and ethylene capacity by 15,000kt/a and 1,200kt/a respectively.

Project name: Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical 15,000kt/a Oil Refining & 1,200kt/a Ethylene Capacity Expansion Project

Main units: 15,000kt/a oil refining unit, 1,200kt/a ethylene unit, 800kt/a MEG unit, 360/800 kt/a PO/SM units, etc.

Investment: 50 billion RMB

Location: Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Base

The capacity expansion at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical is one of the world-level refining & chemical bases invested by Sinopec during the 13^th Five-Year Plan period. After the expansion, the oil refining and ethylene capacity will be about 38,000 kt/a and 2,200kt/a respectively. The other three bases include Maoming-Zhanjiang Base (35,000kt/a oil refining and 1,800kt/a ethylene capacity), Shanghai Base (26,000kt/a oil refining and 2,590kt/a ethylene capacity), Nanjing Base (36,000kt/a oil refining and 2,400kt/a ethylene capacity).

Currently, the daily LPG output at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical is about 2,300mt, and about 1,500mt of resources are sold to the market. After the expansion, the daily LPG output will reach 3,000mt. Given the newly added alkylation and cracking units, the merchantable LPG volume may slightly decline.
