Highlights

China’s PP output was basically unchanged in September from last month. The units were almost shut down temporarily, and fewer units underwent maintenance as planned.

China’s PP output totaled at 1,680kt in September, up 0.6% from August. Only three producers underwent maintenance as planned this month, fewer than those in August. However, there were more than ten producers taking overhauls temporarily due to the breakdown, so the PP output failed to increase greatly. There are limited turnarounds plans in October. In the meantime, most of the previously-stopped units will resume production in October. SCI predicts China’s PP output will inch up in October.
