PetroChina Lanzhou (Changqing) Ethane-to-Ethylene Project Started

According to sources, the PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical (Changqing) ethane-to-ethylene project started construction, mainly covering the 800kt/a ethane cracking to ethylene project. Moreover, the C3 and C4 resources will flow into the surrounding regions.

Location: South Area of Yuheng Industrial Park, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province

Construction enterprise: PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company

Investment: 10.86 billion RMB

Major unit: 800kt/a ethane cracking to ethylene unit, 400kt/a HDPE unit, 400kt/a FDPE unit, 30kt/a n-butene unit, etc.

After the project starts, the annual ethane consumption volume will reach 1,052.7kt, and the ethane resources will be transported via pipelines. Moreover, the major products include ethylene, HDPE, LLDPE, fuel gas, C3, n-butene, etc., and the annual output of these products will be 819.2kt, 600kt, 200kt, 152.2kt, 77.5kt and 20.9kt respectively. Therein, the C3 resources will be consumed in the civil-use gas market, and n-butene will be further processed.

In recent years, the demand for alkylate oil gradually improves with the oil quality upgrade, so there are many alkylation units put into operation every year. Furthermore, the alkylation unit at PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical has been put into operation, so there is no LPG supply from the company. Besides, the LPG output of the project will reach 98.4t, satisfying the LPG supply gap.
