Jul China SBS Imports & Exports Grow YoY
Introduction: According to the data from GACC, China’s total SBS import volume was 5,108.97mt in July 2025, up 8.27% MoM, and the total export volume was 10,356.40mt, down 4.87% MoM. In August, China’s total SBS imports and exports are expected to edge up MoM and YoY. The volume of some Russian goods to arrive at the port is still expected to be large.
The SBS import volume in July grew MoM.
According to the data from GACC, China’s SBS import volume in July was 5,108.97mt, up 8.27% MoM and up 40.45% YoY. The average import price was $1,800.97/mt, up 7.0% MoM and up 2.29% YoY. In July, the volume of SBS resources imported from Russia ranked first, and there was some space for arbitrage.
In terms of trading partners, the dry SBS imports mainly came from Russia, Japan, Taiwan of China, etc. In July, China’s SBS imports from Russia were 2,821.59mt, ranking first, which fell by 16.77% MoM. Those from Japan were 695.43mt, ranking second, which increased by 22.9% MoM. As for the oil-extended SBS, the imports from Russia were 862.6mt, ranking first, which grew by 299.35% MoM. Those from Taiwan of China were 46.3mt, ranking second, which fell by 56.48% MoM.
The SBS exports in July dropped slightly MoM.
According to the data from GACC, China’s total SBS exports in July were 10,356.40mt, down 4.87% MoM but up 53.24% YoY. The average export price was $1,775.92/mt, up 2.62% MoM but down 4.88% YoY. In July, the bitumen modification and shoe material industries were in the traditional slack season, so the SBS consumption declined somewhat, triggering a rise in exports. China’s SBS exports mainly flowed to Southeast Asia.
By destination, the SBS exports mainly flowed to India, the Netherlands, etc. In July, the dry SBS export volume to India was 1,224.69mt, ranking first, which grew by 4.15% MoM. That to the Netherlands was 1,155.2mt, ranking second, which rose by 107.77% MoM. In July, the oil-extended SBS export volume to Vietnam was 299.29mt, ranking first, which increased by 19.57% MoM. That to India was 231mt, up 181.71% MoM.
In August, China’s SBS export volume is expected to edge up YoY. Entering August, the demand in the downstream bitumen modification industry will likely increase. The volume of some Russian goods to arrive at the port is still expected to be large. The SBS export volume is predicted to rise slightly.
