100kt/a PC Project at Sichuan Lutianhua Tested Successfully

On June 6, Lutianhua Group announced that the 100kt/a PC Industrial demonstration project which used the non-phosgene method had a successful trial run the first time.

Tan Guangjun, the chairman of Lutianhua Group, said the Phase I 100kt/a PC project at Lutianhua Group started construction on April 1, 2017. On January 30, 2019, the DPC unit commissioned successfully and produced high-quality products the first time. On March 11, the PC unit had a successful trial run and produced qualified products the first time, and the unit produced high-quality products on May 15. At present, the PC unit had a stable operation, security controland environmental protection standard. The success of this project has broken through the blockade of foreign advanced technology in this field.

Zhaigang, deputy director-general of Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department, said the non-phosgene method PC unit at Lutianhua Group make up the vacancy of the technology in China, and it has a great significance in the import.

Wanggong, researcher and party secretary of Chengdu Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd. Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that PC has many good properties which are heat-resisting, colorless, shock resistance and fireproof and is widely used. China’s PC market depend on the imports of PC for many years. In recent years, China’s PC capacity is surging by introducing foreign technology, but the present products are mainly middle and low-end PC materials. The newly added PC units in foreign countries are basically non-phosgene method, while some newly added PC units in China are still the phosgene method.

Relevant people in charge at Lutianhua Group said that the group would optimize the technological process further, and would devote to develop high-end oriented and professional products to make a full industry chain of PC.
