Jun IIR Import & Export Volume Both Dropped
Introduction: In June, China’s import and export volume of IIR both decreased MoM. In terms of imports, the import volume of IIR in June was 26,388.73mt, down 8.64% from May. For exports, the export volume of IIR was 11,663.52mt, down 7.03% MoM.
Import
Regular IIR
According to data released by GACC, in June 2025, the import volume of regular IIR was 14,614.01mt, up 10.23% MoM and 80.54% YoY. The total import volume from January to June 2025 was approximately 90,005.5mt, up 25.67% YoY. Most overseas units operated normally with relatively ample supply, which supported the growth in China’s regular IIR import volume.
In terms of trading partners, in June, China’s imports of regular IIR were primarily sourced from Russia, Singapore, and Japan. Russia remained the leading origin, with imports reaching 12,643.92mt, up 26.56% MoM and surging 95.75% YoY, accounting for 86.52% of total imports. Singapore followed in second place, with 1,529.03mt, down 8.12% MoM but spiking 252.4% YoY, making up 10.46% of imports. Japan ranked third, supplying 283.43mt, an 18.06% MoM and a 65.13% YoY decline, contributing 1.94% of total imports.
HIIR
According to data released by GACC, in June 2025, the import volume of HIIR was 11,774.72mt, down 24.65% MoM and 14.16% YoY. The total import volume from January to June 2025 was 87,657.39mt, down 8.22% YoY. In June, imports from Russia and Saudi Arabia decreased significantly, driving the overall import growth of HIIR.
In terms of trading partners, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore ranked as the top three sources of China’s HIIR imports in June. Russia led with imports of 4,959.72mt, representing a 9.73% MoM and 21.26% YoY decline, accounting for 42.12% of total imports. Saudi Arabia followed with 3,050.21mt, showing a 60.2% MoM decline and a 19.3% YoY decrease, constituting 25.9% of imports. Singapore ranked third with 1,294.77mt, reflecting a 50.32% MoM rally and a 288.61% YoY surge, making up 11% of total imports.
Exports
Regular IIR
According to data released by GACC, in June 2025, the export volume of regular IIR was 2,976.59mt, down 15.19% MoM and 27.44% YoY. The total export volume from January to June 2025 was 20,838.74mt, down 14.9% YoY.
In terms of export destinations, Pakistan, South Korea and India emerged as the top three destinations of China’s regular IIR exports in June. Pakistan ranked first with 596.16mt shipped, representing a 29.44% MoM decrease and a 75.07% YoY decline, accounting for 20.03% of total exports. South Korea followed with 539.74mt, showing a 132.69% MoM and a 137.98% YoY surge, constituting 18.13% of exports. India placed third with 348.14mt, reflecting a 23.89% MoM growth and a 202.21% YoY surge, making up 11.7% of total exports.
HIIR
According to data released by GACC, in June 2025, the export volume of HIIR was 8,686.93mt, down 3.87% MoM but up 0.22% YoY. The total export volume from January to June 2025 was 48,248.67mt, down 3.42% YoY.
In terms of export destinations, Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea emerged as the top three destinations of China’s HIIR exports in June. Vietnam ranked first with 2,854.66mt shipped, representing a 51.48% MoM increase and a 114.14% YoY surge, accounting for 32.86% of total exports. Thailand followed with 2,062.66mt, showing a 16.87% MoM and a 11.58% YoY decline, constituting 23.74% of exports. South Korea placed third with 663.98mt, reflecting a 60.52% MoM and a 69.53% YoY decline, making up 7.64% of total exports.
